About the role
- Direct hire by the Ichikawa City Board of Education as a full-time Fiscal Year Appointed Employee (kaikeinendo ninyo shokuin).
- Assist with foreign language instruction at elementary, junior high, and special needs schools and classes.
- Help prepare supplementary teaching materials and support Japanese teachers in their language lessons.
- Support special and extra-curricular activities, plus other duties assigned by the school principal.
Requirements
- Native or certified fluent English speaker with excellent pronunciation, rhythm, intonation, and delivery.
- At least a bachelor's degree.
- Knowledge and experience in foreign language education.
- Experience teaching English in Japanese schools.
- Conversational Japanese ability.
- Mentally and physically healthy.
Working conditions
- Working hours are 8:15 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., Monday to Friday (7 hours 45 minutes a day); hours may vary by assigned school.
- Contract period runs from September 1, 2026 to March 31, 2027.
- Year-end and performance bonuses, with a transportation allowance provided separately.
- Paid annual leave, sick leave, and special leave.
- Social insurance: Public School Mutual Aid Association, employment insurance, employees' pension, and work-related accident compensation.

- Selection is by resume screening plus a demonstration lesson; the interview is conducted in Japanese.
- Interviews run July 13 to July 24, 2026; dates are assigned by email and cannot be requested.
