Who operates this service
ALT Direct is operated by J. Witteman (J・ウイットマン), based in Hokkaido, Japan. You can reach the operator directly at [email protected].
What ALT Direct is, and is not
ALT Direct is an information service. It gathers publicly posted direct-hire ALT openings and shows anonymous, aggregate interest from people open to that work.
- •Boards of Education make every hiring decision themselves.
- •ALT Direct does not screen, rank, recommend, or introduce individual candidates.
- •There are no per-hire fees. The service does not act as a paid placement agency.
What Boards see
Boards of Education only ever see aggregate counts. For example, how many people are available for direct-hire work in a prefecture, and how many already live there. Individual names, emails, and identities are never shown. Counts appear only once enough people have answered, so no single person can be identified from them.
How personal information is handled
ALT Direct follows Japan’s Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI).
- •Sign-in is passwordless (Google, or a one-time email link). No passwords are collected or stored.
- •Only what is needed is collected. Contact details like phone numbers, addresses, and resumes are not requested.
- •Access to personal information is restricted to the operator.
- •You can view, correct, or delete your information at any time by contacting the operator.
